This post is part of an ongoing gratitude series
celebrating people who've given me a huge creative boost.
Today I am celebrating creative powerhouse that is Jan Janes.
Jan's official title is Programming Director for CMAP. But the title only scratches the surface of her talents. I think she needs a new one. To me she is the Bridger of Dreams.
She's a Master Gardener. She's a brilliant photographer. She's painter of words. She's a gifted musician. She's the multi in multimedia and so much more.
She also happens to be the talented director of our television series, Give Your Walls Some Soul.
Through thick and thin Jan has directed 77 episodes of our series.
Seventy-seven!
Jan knows where I'm going to land on the canvas long before I ever get there and she expertly and intuitively directs the crew during the wild ride that is the taping of my show.
And through our friendship, Jan has been there through it all to help me on my journey. Not only is she a dear friend, she's provided some incredibly intuitive links. It was Jan who put me in touch with the publishers of Monkey Made of Sockies. And Jan's off the cuff comment that prompted song lyrics for "Conversations With Myself" And it was Jan's shoulder that got me through a few interesting potholes in the road.
You'll note that I've not posted any pictures of Jan. She prefers to remain behind the camera. I will however post a link to one of her blogs, California Coast Wines. This multi-media beauty is delicious!
The way of an artist is not easy. But it is rich. So rich. Thank you Jan for your wisdom, inspiration and friendship! You are the bridge from what is to what could be.
