Social media has changed how I paint.
In the days before twitter and blip.fm , I'd grab some coffee and wake up at the easel. Now, not only do I check in at both sites, I stay awhile.
I don't talk much on Twitter in the morning. Mostly because it takes me a long time to wake up and I can't formulate a tweet. But I sure can Blip. I pull up a song and let er rip! After that I'm usually responding to other posts for the remainder of the session.
If the stream is particularly good, I'll let it run and listen to it while I'm painting.
This piece below was heavily influenced by my time on Blip.fm .

I'm working on a companion piece for Twitter. It will be interesting to see how it turns out.
My husband, who is seldom online, has asked me, "Can't you leave the people in the computer?"
Apparently not.
Epilogue 5/21/10
Here's the piece inspired by Twitter.
Here they are side by side...
I no longer blip in the morning before painting and I only tweet for a few minutes. I felt I needed to go back to my roots and put my creative time above all else.
Still, the peeps I have met in the virtual world continue to inspire me through out the day.
I am truly grateful!
It is my hope that I can send it back.

Thank you so much!
I cannot help but fall in love with these lovely pieces of art, and you are ALWAYS an inspirational lift. To look upon your work is a treasure (to my creative soul) in many aspects, for the poetry, and even some of my own bits of art. Wonderful work Shannon! ~April
